A week ago on NBC’s Meet the Press, David Gregory brandished on screen a high-capacity magazine. 

To most media experts, a “high-capacity magazine” means an ad-stuffed double issue of Vanity Fair with the triple-page perfume-scented pullouts. 

But apparently in America’s gun-nut gun culture of gun-crazed gun kooks, it’s something else entirely, and it was this latter kind that Mr. Gregory produced in order to taunt Wayne LaPierre of the NRA. As the poster child for America’s gun-crazed gun-kook gun culture, Mr. LaPierre would probably have been more scared by the host waving around a headily perfumed Vanity Fair. 

But that was merely NBC’s first miscalculation. It seems a high-capacity magazine is illegal in the District of Columbia, and the flagrant breach of D.C. gun laws is now under investigation by the police.

This is, declared NYU professor Jay Rosen, “the dumbest media story of 2012.” Why? Because, as CNN’s Howard Kurtz breezily put it, everybody knows David Gregory wasn’t “planning to commit any crimes.”

So what? 
Neither are the overwhelming majority of his fellow high-capacity-magazine-owning Americans. Yet they’re expected to know, as they drive around visiting friends and family over Christmas, the various and contradictory gun laws in different jurisdictions. Ignorantia juris non excusat is one of the oldest concepts in civilized society: Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Back when there was a modest and proportionate number of laws, that was just about doable. But in today’s America there are laws against everything, and any one of us at any time is unknowingly in breach of dozens of them. 

And in this case NBC were informed by the D.C. police that it would be illegal to show the thing on TV, and they went ahead and did it anyway: You’ll never take me alive, copper! You’ll have to pry my high-capacity magazine from my cold dead fingers! When the D.C. SWAT team, the FBI, and the ATF take out NBC News and the whole building goes up in one almighty fireball, David Gregory will be the crazed loon up on the roof like Jimmy Cagney in White Heat: “Made it, Ma! Top of the world!” At last, some actual must-see TV on that lousy network.

On Friday, the hosts of Fox News’ “The Five” blasted liberal filmmaker and provocateur Michael Moore for suggesting that white gun owners are motivated by racial fears when buying firearms.

Even the left-leaning Juan Williams found Moore’s comments “unnecessary.” He said adding race into the conversation for no reason distracts from the “reality” that gun control was first implemented as a way to stop blacks from owning guns.

But co-host Eric Bolling went off.

“Michael Moore is wrong. 

White people who own guns aren’t afraid of freckle-faced Jimmy down the block, and white people who own guns aren’t afraid of black people breaking in or holding them up,” he said. “White people are afraid of moron, idiot liberals like Michael Moore who think they will get their guns taken away because they have a liberal Democrat in office… S0 [white people] go out and they buy guns and make sure they have guns before these idiots have their way.”

The Chinese Are Buying America

As the U.S. housing market slowly starts to recover, foreign investment is helping it along.

According to the National Association of Realtors, non-American buyers accounted for $82 billion in home sales last year. More than $7 billion of that is by the Chinese, who are now the second largest foreign home purchasers after Canadians. They're buying high-end, multimillion-dollar homes from California to New York and paying cash.

"They're probably the top 1 percent of the Mandarin speakers that are coming from China," said Brent Chang, a Coldwell Banker realtor in Southern California. "They're really the people who have their own businesses or maybe were part of the government."

Some of these homes are specifically catered to Chinese buyers.  

Fox News visited a home listed at $8 million in Pasadena, Calif., that had two kitchens, the smaller one had ventilation for the cooking for aromatic or "stinky" foods like fish.   It also has a lower level in-law suite and even a koi pond.

"People from China do a lot more business in their homes so they want their homes to really scream that they've made it and they're successful, " said Chang.

The Chinese like the U.S. because their money goes further. In Shanghai, $2 million might only get you a two-bedroom condo.

"You get a huge bang for your buck, you get land, you get good schools, you get a safe environment, nice community life, " said Linda Chang, a realtor who works with her son, Brent, in the San Marino and Pasadena areas of California.

Chang says while many other real estate markets have suffered, her area has flourished thanks to Chinese and other foreign buyers.

"It's been fantastic for the U.S. housing market because we have not suffered as other communities have," said the elder Chang. "In fact, our property values have increased."

While some of the Chinese buyers live in the U.S. full or part-time, realtors estimate about 40 percent of the homes are for investments. They're snapping up houses in states hit hard by foreclosures such as Nevada and Florida. Some are buying two or three homes at a time.

According to Shanghai magazine Hurun Report, mainland China has almost 1 million millionaires and nearly half of them say they want to invest in the United States.

"It's a sign of their status," said Betty Chan, who deals with Chinese buyers in Las Vegas. "You can show off to your friends and family that I can buy something overseas, not everybody can do it."

Chan continued: "Most Chinese like to own a Mercedes ... it doesn't matter whether a Mercedes is a good car or not. It's just showing their status in the community, so owning a foreign house is pretty much a prestigious status in China, so they're proud to tell their friends: 'Hey, I own a house overseas.'"

Buyers from China also invested almost $2 billion in commercial property in 2011, or quadruple what they spent several years ago.

So, it looks as if the 'Housing Recovery' is being fueled by the Chinese... NOT by Americans buying and selling property.

AMERICA VOTES - TWICE!

Patriots,
I am writing you today for two reasons.
First, I have heard from many Patriots who remain very disheartened about the election and direction of our country. I have also heard from many who appreciated the words of encouragement in Thursday's column, "We're Back in the FIGHT!," and have forwarded those to family and friends. That message is reprinted below so please forward them to others who need encouragement.

Second, I wanted to send you the most current county-by-county election map, which clearly reveals what state election maps don't, and what Obama and his Leftist cadres do NOT want you to contemplate. It shows where Leftist constituencies reside. (By the way, we have taken the Liberty to correct the colors -- red is a much more fitting color for the Leftist strongholds.)  

The assault on Liberty we witnessed Tuesday, as was the case in 2008, was led primarily by those on urban "ObamaNation Plantations," those who depend on what Obama calls "redistributive justice" from the rest of us in order to survive. They account for almost 60 (SIXTY) percent of Obama's constituents, and Socialist Democrats are masters of co-opting (read: "buying") their allegiance and getting them to the polls. The good news is that about 10 million fewer Obama voters showed up in 2012, despite his billion-dollar campaign.  

Words of Encouragement
Patriots, we were dealt an awful body blow on Tuesday, and the odds we face in our quest to restore Liberty and Rule of Law enshrined in our Declaration and Constitution may seem insurmountable. However, we can find strength and encouragement in the words from the most noble of Founding Patriots, George Washington.

In 1777, at a very dark moment amid a string of defeats in the first quest for Liberty -- and just before the fall of Philadelphia and the brutal Winter at Valley Forge, Washington wrote one of his generals: "We should never despair, our Situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better, so I trust, it will again. If new difficulties arise, we must only put forth new Exertions and proportion our Efforts to the exigency of the times."

I also recall the words of Thomas Paine from his Revolutionary pamphlet, The American Crisis: "These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman." When Samuel Adams signed the Declaration, he said, "We have this day restored the Sovereign to whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His kingdom come."

Indeed, God is Sovereign in the affairs of men.

As for the challenges we face, faithful Patriots, hold fast to this wisdom from James 1:2-4: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

(Some among our Patriot ranks are not Christians, but we know your devotion to Liberty is strong. However, everyone on your Patriot Post team here is a devoted Christian, and the bottom line -- you can bank on our faith, even if you don't share it.)

Patriots, we have lost a battle -- but not the war. Hold your head high and redouble your courage and resolve. Remain steadfast in your devotion to Liberty and hold the line. As Paine wrote, "Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. ... I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death."

It has taken generations for our nation to get into the ditch we are in now. It will take more than a few election cycles to pull it out. But there has been a great awakening among Patriots, and our ranks have grown rapidly in recent years.

Our fight for the eternal cause of Liberty, as "endowed by our Creator," ends only with our last breath.

4 More Years...

Am I A Racist?

Am I a racist?  
I wonder how many folks have asked that question of themselves?

I bring this up now, at election time, because just last week, someone accused me of being a racist, because I said that I didn't like the way most Black people behaved.  Well, I don’t like it.  That’s a fact.

It’s like they have their own language, and are consciously trying to be very different from other Americans, especially White folks.  Now, at election time, there are reports that if 'the one' isn't re-elected, some Black folks are threatening to cause a national riot!  It seems that many Blacks don't like White folks at all!  

I guess one could argue that this group of Black people - (those who hate Whites), are the real ‘racists’?

I really don’t think I’m a racist.  And I really don’t think I’m a bigot. 

I just don’t like folks that are hurting America.  And I believe that many Black people hate America and are trying to hurt her. 

I also believe that the Muslim people want to hurt America.  They can say they’re for peace, but their history says otherwise.  

A while back, they protested a Christian minister for giving a breakfast prayer at West Point.  

And they have just attacked American Sovereign Soil in Benghazi and killed 4 Americans! 

I just don’t trust any of them and I feel they will try to do us more harm at any time.  Likely they have plans in the works right now!

I’m against anybody that hates America… or has a lifestyle that is harmful to America’s future.   Patriotism is important to me… Morals are important too…

Black, White, Jew, Muslim, Russian, Chinese, African, Eskimo, Japanese… it really doesn’t matter where your grandparents came from or what you look like.

It’s about how you behave and whether you respect American values or not.

If you are demeaning to America, if you are trying to ‘change’ America, if you believe that America has given you the freedom to do as you wish and to go against GOD’s Laws, if you are trying to hurt America in any way, then I’m against you… and you are my enemy.   I will fight you until my last breath for America!

Does that make me a racist?  Does that make me a bigot?  I don’t think so… But I’ll let you be the judge.  If you can show me that you’re qualified to judge me...?

Let's start with that.

Just what DO you believe in that makes you want to hurt America?  That's right, why do you want to hurt America?  If you hate her - and me - so much, why don't you just go back to where your ancestors came from?  Sounds simple to me...

But, if you'd rather stay and fight, I'm ready... COME AND GET SOME!
