The Right To Keep and Bear Arms

The Right To Keep and Bear Arms.
What does that mean to you?

Photobucket

Does it mean that you can own a firearm?
Does it mean that you can carry a firearm in public?
Does it mean that you can show off your new pistol to your friends down at the bar?
Does it mean that you have a right to protect yourself and your loved ones and your property?

What the heck does it mean anyway?
If you don't know and are interested in doing any research, you might start HERE.

But, just get a copy of The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, The Federalist Papers, The Anti-Federalist Papers, and read them.

That's right... actually sit down and READ them!

There have been several court battles over the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment. The latest being the Heller Case in 2008.

But, frankly, The Founders were of the opinion that the 'right of self protection' was a God given right, and that the Second Amendment to The U.S. Constitution was only a formalization of an accepted principle.

Luckily for us, they DID write it down!
Many politicians have tried, and are still trying, to take firearms away from law abiding citizens of these United States!

Some states, like Illinois and New York and California are very ANTI-gun. They won't allow even the possession of a firearm unless you jump through many silly and protracted 'hoops', fill out endless paperwork, and wait the prescribed amount of time for final approval to purchase a firearm!

How stupid it that?

Oh, I know... I've heard it all before. Guns are dangerous!
Where there are guns there is crime!
Guns need to be regulated and registered and controlled!

Well, yes, guns are lethal weapons.
But guns don't kill people... People kill people.
It's the criminal behavior that is the cause of the violence... not the gun!

But Liberals would have you believe otherwise, and would insist that you turn in your guns for lollipops or some such nonsense - just so they can CONTROL the society, without the threat of any possible rebellious uprising by 'the people' with their guns!

Back when our Nation was very young, feelings were very strong about self defense and self protection. And, the young Nation was very concerned of the possibility that another tyrant like King George would rise to power and repress the citizens.

Liberty was the most important ideal of the time... and still is.

Thomas Jefferson even said, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it’s natural manure."

So the right to keep and bear arms has been a very long standing tradition in America.

Recently, I had a discussion with an uninformed citizen in an online forum about 'refreshing the tree of liberty' and was informed that I was being 'fast and loose' with the phrase and was accused of inciting rebellion or murder... The actual spilling of blood!

I tried several attempts to convince the individual that the phrase was much broader than he realized. 'Refreshing the tree of liberty' not only means the taking of human life, but also the sacrifice of human life... most likely MINE!

Murder will be decided by a court of law.
It's the commitment to carry out the act; the act of self defense, the actual firing of the gun to protect yourself, that is so important, and must be fully understood!

That is precisely the responsibility one must consider when one decides to carry a weapon in public!

When you put a pistol in your pocket or in a holster on your belt, you had better have a license to do so, and a firm understanding of the possible consequences if you use that pistol!

If you decide to use the gun during the commission of a crime, you will go to jail for a very long time! DO NOT DO IT!

If you use the gun to defend yourself our your loved ones, YOU MAY STILL GO TO JAIL!

You must understand that the use of deadly force is to be considered ONLY as a last resort! If you are prepared to take a life, you must be prepared to give your own life.

This is the responsibility of carrying a weapon in public or defending your home with a firearm.

These are GRAVE circumstances NOT to be taken lightly!

The Founders understood this concept and made it clear that Americans have the God given right of self protection.

If you stop and think about it, it's not much different than driving a car. You don't wear the seatbelt because you plan to be in an accident. You wear it 'in case' you're in an accident.

One doesn't carry a gun planning to shoot someone... One carries a gun for protection, just like a seat belt.

A car is a moving vehicle and a lethal weapon if carelessly operated. The gun doesn't do anything unless the 'operator' causes it to function!

The Right To Keep and Bear Arms is a fundamental principle of American Law and a big part of the way Americans have lived for hundreds of years.

If you wish to exercise your 2nd Amendment Rights and own or carry a firearm, first, respect the law.

Contact your local police department and fill out the necessary paperwork to obtain a license to carry your gun. Be advised that they will conduct a thorough background check, so if there is anything untoward in your personal history, you might be denied the license.

Get professional training on how to operate the gun safely and accurately and inform your family of the necessity of personal protection. DO NOT BE A VICTIM!

AT ALL TIMES, cooperate with law enforcement officials. If you are pulled over for a traffic violation, roll down the window, place your hands on the steering wheel and inform the officer that you are licensed to carry a firearm and you DO have a firearm on your person and tell him/her where it is. DO NOT BE STUPID!

Learn weapon safety.
Learn The 4 rules!

1. All guns are always loaded. No exceptions.
Don’t " pretend" that this is true; be deadly serious about it.

2. Never let the muzzle cover(point at), anything you are not willing to destroy.

3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
a. You cannot line up any faster than you can position your trigger finger, and there is no need to fire an unaligned weapon.
b. Most accidental discharges occur as a result of a violation of this rule.

4. Be sure of your target.
Know what it is, what it is in line with, and what is behind it.

Never shoot at anything you have not positively identified.
______________

Owning a weapon is a great responsibility. Honor it.
Honor the other law abiding gun owners in America with your good and honorable behavior.
Stay Safe!

U.S. A Nation OF Cowards On Race!?!

When I heard this I was astonished!
But then after a while, it began to make sense. We are a nation of cowards because we won't stand up to the black man and INSIST that he discontinue his attitude that his only way to make money is through a life of crime, and begin to work for his room and board like the rest of us!

White Guilt is rampant in America!
Americans are afraid of confronting the black man!

Holder Calls U.S. 'Nation of Cowards' on Race Matters
AP
In a speech to Justice Department employees marking Black History Month, Attorney General Eric Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives.

WASHINGTON -- Eric Holder, the nation's first black attorney general, said Wednesday the United States was "a nation of cowards" on matters of race, with most Americans avoiding candid discussions of racial issues.

In a speech to Justice Department employees marking Black History Month, Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives.

(And where is it written that I have to socialize with you just because you're black or green or yellow or pink? I'll hang with the folks I want to hang with Mr. Holder!)

"Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and I believe continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards," Holder said.

Race issues continue to be a topic of political discussion, but "we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race."

Holder's speech echoed President Barack Obama's landmark address last year on race relations during the hotly contested Democratic primaries, when the then-candidate urged the nation to break "a racial stalemate we've been stuck in for years" and bemoaned the "chasm of misunderstanding that exists between the races."

Obama delivered the speech to try to distance himself from the angry rhetoric of his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Holder cited that speech by Obama as part of the motivation for his words Wednesday, saying Americans need to overcome an ingrained inhibition against talking about race.

"If we're going to ever make progress, we're going to have to have the guts, we have to have the determination, to be honest with each other. It also means we have to be able to accept criticism where that is justified," Holder told reporters after the speech.

Holder urged people of all races to use Black History Month as a chance for honest discussion of racial matters, including issues of health care, education and economic disparities.

Race, Holder said, "is an issue we have never been at ease with and, given our nation's history, this is in some ways understandable... If we are to make progress in this area, we must feel comfortable enough with one another and tolerant enough of each other to have frank conversations about the racial matters that continue to divide us."

In a country founded by slave owners, race has bedeviled the nation throughout its history, with blacks denied the right to vote just a few decades ago. Obama's triumph last November as well as the nomination of Holder stand as historic achievements of two black Americans.

Holder told hundreds of Justice Department employees gathered for the event that they have a special responsibility to advance racial understanding.

Even when people mix at the workplace or afterwork social events, Holder argued, many Americans in their free time are still segregated inside what he called "race-protected cocoons."

"Saturdays and Sundays, America in the year 2009 does not in some ways differ significantly from the country that existed almost 50 years ago. This is truly sad," said Holder.

Andrew Grant-Thomas, Deputy Director of the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at Ohio State University, praised Holder's general message but said the wording of the speech may alienate some.

"He's right on the substance, but that's probably not the most politic way of saying it. I'm certain there are people who will hear him and say, 'That's obnoxious,"' he said, adding that what was missing from Holder's speech were specific examples of what painful subjects need to be addressed.

Hilary Shelton, vice president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, called the speech "constructively provocative."

"Nobody wants to be considered a coward. We've learned to get along by exclusion and silence. We need to talk about it. People need to feel comfortable saying the wrong things," said Shelton.

Soooo... What is Holder really saying?

It seems to me that Mr. Holder is calling us out!
That he wants a fight!

And, I'm not the only one to see it this way!

A Nation Of Cowards?
Matthew May
Of course, Eric Holder is correct.

When it comes to race we Americans are, for the most part, a nation of cowards. This cowardice was on full display during the most recent presidential election and continues today.

As they are in so many other areas of life, chief among our American cowards are the representatives of the national political media.

During the presidential campaign, there was a maniacal effort on the part of the national media to find whites who would not vote for Barack Obama, never mind the reasoning for choosing so.

Whites who were not for Mr. Obama were automatically racist in outlook and action, you see.

No major media network or national newspaper attempted to investigate the associations of Barack Obama with William Ayres and the Annenberg Project in Chicago.

No major media network or national newspaper launched an investigation as to the release of Barack Obama's grades in college, the lack of legal scholarship that somehow landed him as president of the Harvard Law Review, or any other aspect of his mysterious academic record.

Think back to how resolute and determined that same media were in smoking out the academic record of George W. Bush to prove he is a dolt.

What is the difference?

It is the difference between the incurious or deliberate ignoring of the seemingly endless and disturbing associations and utterances of Barack Obama and the deliberate attempts at smashing anything and everything associated with Sarah Palin.

Because Palin is white, she was fair game.
Because Barack Obama is sort of black, anything said against him or an honest inquiry into his past was automatically deemed racist - literally no questions asked.

While such cowardice is to be expected from the national media, there is, however, an element of cowardice among too many of us who blanch at the thought of fighting back when accused of racism or an unwillingness to "discuss race," whatever that means.

We are reluctant to inflame or we think that perhaps it is understandable that some black Americans believe that all white Americans are inherently racist in thought and action and, as such, those who prattle on about white racism are not checked and required to defend their statements.

Too many of us are unwilling to risk the censure of our self-proclaimed betters, or risk being labeled racists for fear of retribution in the workplace or the neighborhood.

Too many of us are unwilling to say out loud that we truly live by the credo laid down so eloquently by Martin Luther King, Jr., on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963 and demand that it be proved otherwise.

Too many of us are reluctant to remind others that the "salient datum," as William F. Buckley, Jr., observed in Tennessee shortly after Dr. King was murdered, was not that the United States bred the murderer but that "we bred the most widely shared and the most intensely felt grief...as if felt over the loss of one's own sons."

Too many of us are unwilling to respond to real racism perpetrated by the likes of Eric Holder, Barack Obama, and Jeremiah Wright by repudiating their bigotry in loud, bold language.

Instead we slink to diversity awareness programs at work and school and pretend they are useful.

We yield to the propaganda our children - all of our children - are fed in government schools at the expense of the canons of Western civilization without standing up to demand better of our educators.

When reluctant to stand up for our children against the onslaught of illiberal education, it is difficult to imagine how much more cowardly we could be.

Yes, there are rabid racists about in the land.
They come in all shades. But they are few in relative number.

Yet too many of us have cowered in the face of these racial bullies.
No more.

Americans of good faith, Americans who live our lives with love in our hearts, charity in our actions, and malice toward only those who seek to destroy us must stand up for ourselves and resist these baseless charges and worthless observations. It is obvious that our acts alone do not satisfy the race-warmongers among us, and it behooves us to conclude that they never will.

We, Americans of goodwill, must push back and declare that the sentiments of people like the attorney general are invalid, untrue, and unacceptable. We must stand up and demand that our president state clearly if he endorses the remarks of the attorney general who, it must be remembered, serves at the pleasure of the president.

Anything else and we truly are cowards.
Yet we know in our hearts that we are not. Let us prove it once and for all, no matter what anyone might say.
___________
So... the truth is revealed!
White Americans voted for Obama out of FEAR!
Fear that if they did not, they would be labeled RACISTS!

Maybe it's time we stood up to this Obama character and called him out!

AND...

American Solutions has 12 ways THEY believe the economy should have been 'stimulated':

1. Payroll Tax Stimulus.
With a temporary new tax credit to offset 50% of the payroll tax, every small business would have more money, and all Americans would take home more of what they earn.

2. Real Middle-Income Tax Relief.
Reduce the marginal tax rate of 25% down to 15%, in effect establishing a flat-rate tax of 15% for close to 9 out of 10 American workers.

3. Reduce the Business Tax Rate.
Match Ireland’s rate of 12.5% to keep more jobs in America.

4. Homeowner’s Assistance.
Provide tax credit incentives to responsible home buyers so they can keep their homes.

5. Control Spending So We Can Move to a Balanced Budget.
This begins with eliminating Congressional earmarks and wasteful pork-barrel spending.

6. No State Aid Without Protection From Fraud.
Require state governments to adopt anti-fraud and anti-theft policies before giving them more money.

7. More American Energy Now.
Explore for more American oil and gas and invest in affordable energy for the future, including clean coal, ethanol, nuclear power and renewable fuels.

8. Abolish Taxes on Capital Gains.
Match China, Singapore and many other competitors. More investment in America means more jobs in America.

9. Protect the Rights of American Workers.
We must protect a worker’s right to decide by secret ballot whether to join a union, and the worker’s right to freely negotiate. Forced unionism will kill jobs in America at a time when we can’t afford to lose them.

10. Replace Sarbanes-Oxley.
This failed law is crippling entrepreneurial startups. Replace it with affordable rules that help create jobs, not destroy them.

11. Abolish the Death Tax.
Americans should work for their families, not for Washington.

12. Invest in Energy and Transportation Infrastructure.
This includes a new, expanded electric power grid and a 21st century air traffic control system that will reduce delays in air travel and save passengers, employees and airlines billions of dollars per year.

Here's Newt to tell you about it...

Chairman O's Housing Plan

MICHELLE CARUSO-CABRERA , over at CNBC has a pretty good handle on Obama's new housing plan.

Housing Plan: A Break For Those Who Least Deserve It
The new Obama housing plan is going to give a break to those who least deserve it: people who bought more house than they can afford. It will reward those who made all the wrong decisions.
I've
written about this before, but I have to readdress it here because I'm absolutely gobsmacked.

Think this through for a second.
Your home value, along with all your neighbors, has gone down in the last year.

But now your neighbor, who bought above his means and can’t make the payments, because of a reset to the REAL monthly cost of the loan, is suddenly going to get a gift.

Well what about you? You did the right thing. . You didn’t buy more than you could afford. But you don’t get a break.

What They'll Get -
This is straight from the White House Fact Sheet:
"To provide extra incentive for borrowers to keep paying on time, the inititiative will provide a monthly balance reduction payment that goes straight towards reducing the principal balance of the mortgage loan.

As long as a borrower stays current on his or her loan, he or she can get up to $1000 a year for five years."

The Obama administration's summary of the plan said the plan could offer a buffer of up to $6,000 against value declines on the average home.

And the loan servicers, don't forget them.
Banks will receive an up-front fee of $1,000 for each eligible modification meeting guidelines established under this initiative. They will also receive “pay for success” fees—awarded monthly as long as the borrower stays current on the loan—of up to $1,000 each year for three years.

The proponents say you have to stop the decline in housing prices. Why?
We get e-mails every day from frustrated savers who believe now is there time to be rewarded—with a home, or investment property they can finally afford.
But the government wants to do everything to punish those people, and keep them out of the market, even though they did the right thing.

Instead, they are going to have their taxpayer money transferred to someone who made bad decisions. $1,000 for the homeowner, $1,000 for each modification. That's $2,000 per loan of YOUR MONEY being given away.

There are other options.

They aren’t great either but they are less likely to cause terrible moral hazard and induce other homeowners to try and get a break on the back of other taxpayers.

You can reduce the interest rate, lengthen the term of the loan so the monthly payments are more affordable.
Better yet, let the market handle it.

Michelle has other links and an opposing viewpoint from another writer, and a POLL you can vote in at the site.
I think it's worth the read.

Hurry Up And Wait?!?

This Obama character and all his minions were yelling and screaming for several days, even weeks that their 'porkulus' bill had to be passed 'immediately'.

They had promised to give the American Public plenty of time to review ANY legislation before it went for a vote, but this 'stimulus ' package had to be passed NOW!

I was always wondering what the rush was? Why all the hubbub? This crisis of confidence didn't occur overnight... It was created by the liberal media and the Democrats screaming that 'the sky was falling' for several years!

Here's an article from Thomas Sowell over at National Review Online:

Rush to Wait
A 1,000-page bill passed in two days sat unsigned on the president’s desk for three.
By Thomas Sowell

The big story last week was the incredible congressional rush to pass a bill that was more than 1,000 pages long in just two days — after which it sat on the president’s desk for three days while the Obamas were away on a holiday.

There is the same complete inconsistency in the bill itself.

Despite the urgency in President Obama’s rhetoric, as well as in Congress’s haste in passing a bill which few — if any — members had time to read, much less consider, most of the actual spending will take place next year at the earliest.

Not even the most Alice-in-Wonderland actions will arouse the suspicions of those who have what William James once called “the will to believe.”

Nowhere was that will to believe greater than in the election of Barack Obama to be president of the United States, not on the basis of any actual accomplishment, but as the repository of hopes and symbolism. His supporters among the voters and in the media are not going to stop believing now.

It will take a lot more than blatant inconsistency for the faithful to lose faith. It may take catastrophe — and there may well be catastrophe.

For some, even catastrophe under Obama can be blamed on George W. Bush.

After all, Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected to an unprecedented third term in 1940, after two terms in which the unemployment rate never fell below 10 percent and was above 20 percent for 21 consecutive months.

FDR also inspired the will to believe — and he also had Herbert Hoover on whom to blame all the country’s troubles.

It may seem strange, to those who never lived through those times, that someone could be president of the United States for eight straight years and nevertheless escape responsibility for mass unemployment by blaming his long-departed predecessor.

But we may yet see a rerun of that scenario in our own time.

Nothing in the amateurish way the current administration has begun suggests that they have mastered even the mechanics of governing, much less the complexities of the huge national problems looming ahead, at home and abroad.

The multiple Cabinet nominees withdrawing before their nomination can come to a vote in the Senate are just one example of this amateurism.

Another example was the secretary of the Treasury holding a much heralded unveiling of his recovery plan, only to publicly embarrass himself and the administration when his speech made painfully clear that there is no plan, but only pious hopes.

The plunge in the stock market after his speech suggests how much confidence he inspired.

There is far more to fear from this administration than its amateurism in governing.

The urgency with which it has rushed through a monumental spending bill, whose actual spending will not be completed even after 2010, ought to set off alarm bells among those who are not in thrall to the euphoria of Obama’s presidency. The urgency was real, even if the reason given was phony. President Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, let slip a valuable clue when he said that a crisis should not go to waste, that a crisis is an opportunity to do things that you could not do otherwise.

Think about the utter cynicism of that. During a crisis, a panicked public will let you get away with things you couldn’t get away with otherwise.

A corollary of that is that you had better act quickly while the crisis is at hand, without congressional hearings or public debates about what you are doing. Above all, you must act before the economy begins to recover on its own.

The party line is that the market has failed so disastrously that only the government can save us. It is proclaimed in Washington and echoed in the media.

The last thing the administration can risk is delay that could allow the market to begin recovering on its own.

That would undermine, if not destroy, a golden opportunity to restructure the American economy in ways that would allow politicians to micromanage other sectors of the economy the way they have micromanaged the housing market into disaster.

Happy Predident's Day?

National Review Online has an interesting piece on our Presidents as we celebrate Presidents Day in America. It's a pretty good read.

The Good, the Bad, and William Henry Harrison

You might want to check it out...

But it's difficult to feel good today with a Marxist in the White House, a 'Porkulus' bill that will cost taxpayers Trillions, and the following news from Europe...

Geert Wilders and the Fight for Europe
Does defending Western values constitute “inciting hatred”?
By Bat Yeor

Britain has just witnessed the spectacle of a duly elected parliamentarian from another EU country, Geert Wilders of the Netherlands, being denied entry to the country because he constituted “a threat to public policy.”

Wilders, after being detained briefly at Heathrow, was sent back to Holland — where he has further legal troubles.

Three weeks earlier, a Dutch appeals court had ordered prosecutors to begin criminal proceedings against Wilders for “inciting hatred and discrimination” and “insulting Muslim worshippers” through his public statements and his 2008 film, Fitna.

Link To The Movie

The order to proceed with the criminal prosecution resulted from pressure put on European states and on the UN Human Rights Council by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

The OIC’s aim is to punish and suppress any alleged Islamophobia, around the world but particularly in Europe, and it has been a leader in creating the conditions that made the U.K.’s Wilders ban possible.

The OIC is one of the largest intergovernmental organizations in the world. It encompasses 56 Muslim states plus the Palestinian Authority. Spread over four continents, it claims to speak in the name of the ummah (the universal Muslim community), which numbers about 1.3 billion.

The OIC’s mission is to unite all Muslims worldwide by rooting them in the Koran and the Sunnah — the core of traditional Islamic civilization and values. It aims at strengthening solidarity and cooperation among all its members, in order to protect the interests of Muslims everywhere and to galvanize the ummah into a unified body.

The OIC is a unique organization — one that has no equivalent in the world. It unites the religious, economic, military, and political strength of 56 states.

By contrast, the European Union represents half as many states and is a secular body only, and the Vatican — which speaks for the world’s 1.1 billion Catholics — is devoid of any political power.

Many Muslims in the West resist the OIC’s tutelage and oppose its efforts to supplant Western law with sharia. But the OIC’s resources are formidable. The organization has numerous subsidiary institutions collaborating at the highest levels with international organizations in order to implement its political objectives worldwide.

Its main working bodies are the Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), which seeks to impose on the West the Islamic perception of history and civilization; the Observatory of Islamophobia, which puts pressure on Western governments and international bodies to adopt laws punishing “Islamophobia” and blasphemy; and the newly created Islamic International Court of Justice.

As stated in its 1990 Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam, the OIC is strictly tied to the principles of the Koran, the Sunnah, and the sharia. In a word, the OIC seeks to become the reincarnation of the Caliphate.

The OIC regularly reiterates its commitments to protecting the political, historical, religious, and human rights of Muslims in non-OIC states, especially Muslims who form the majority in specific regions of non-Muslim countries — such as the southern Philippines, southern Thailand, and western Thrace in Greece — as well as Muslims in places like the Balkans, the Caucasus, Myanmar, India, and China.

The OIC supports Hamas and the Palestinians in their struggle to destroy Israel, as well as the Muslim fight for “legitimate self-determination” in “Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.”

It has condemned the “continual Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan,” and it expresses its full solidarity with “the just cause of the Muslim Turkish people of Cyprus” and with Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir, whom many hold responsible for encouraging the massacres in Darfur.

The seat of the OIC is in Jeddah, but the organization regards that location as temporary: Its headquarters will be transferred to al-Kods (Islamized Jerusalem) when that city has been “liberated” from Israeli control.

In its efforts to defend the “true image” of Islam and combat its defamation, the organization has requested the UN and the Western countries to punish “Islamophobia” and blasphemy.

Among the manifestations of Islamophobia, in the OIC’s view, are European opposition to illegal immigration, anti-terrorist measures, criticism of multiculturalism, and indeed any efforts to defend Western cultural and national identities.

The OIC has massive funding from oil sources, which it lavishly spends on the Western media and academia and in countless “dialogues.”

It influences Western policy, laws, and even textbooks through pressures brought by Muslim immigrants and by the Western nations’ own leftist parties. Hence, we have seen Kristallnacht-like incitements of hate and murder against European Jews and Israel conducted with impunity in the cities of Europe — where respect for human rights is supposed to be one of the highest values. Geert Wilders is the latest victim of this enormous world machinery.

His crime is maintaining that Europe’s civilization is rooted in the values of Jerusalem, Athens, Rome, and the Enlightenment — and not in Mecca, Baghdad, Andalusia, and al-Kods. He fights for Europe’s independence from the Caliphate and for its endangered freedoms. He had received serious death threats even before Fitna was released.

Many Muslims in the West support him, but Geert Wilders’s principal weapons are his courage and his willingness to resist even his own government, which is slowly submitting to the OIC’s pressures.

Wilders’s enemies pretend that he is an insignificant personality who makes “provocative” statements only in search of fame. In fact, if his motivation were self-interest, he could do far better by courting the OIC’s favors — as so many Europeans are doing, consciously or unconsciously — rather than risking his freedom and indeed his life.

The 25 Culprits In The Financial Meltdown

Here's an article from American Thinker about Time Magazine's list of the 25 culprits that caused the financial meltdown.

Time Magazine's list of 25 culprits in the financial meltdown
By Ed Lasky
Time Magazine has come up with a list of players who they believe are responsible for the mess we're in.

I don’t necessarily agree with this list.

I would add a few Democratic politicians-such as Christopher Dodd (who protected the finance and hedge fund industry from regulation from his perch as Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee) and Barney Frank (chairman of the Financial Services Committee who pressured financial committees and promoted legislation to expand homeownership to people who were incapable of meeting their debt obligations).

I know why the magazine put the HGTV founder on-supposedly the channel stoked the desire for home ownership -ridiculous.

I would indict Hollywood and the advertising industry for fostering materialism and greed.

Also, many other politicians for overpromising and creating the problem of moral hazard.

I would accuse accounting firms for turning a blind eye to manipulations-of fostering the financial statement creativity that occurred; Also, the CEO’s of credit card companies for blitzing our mailboxes with offers and teaser rates (similar to the teaser rates offered on adjustable rate mortgages).

How about credit scoring companies for using outmoded models for judging creditor’s creditworthiness?

And the head of Moody’s (if Standard and Poors is in the Hall of Shame so should Moody’s-and Fitches for that matter).

Don't forget mortgage insurance companies that stamped their insurance on various financial securities making them easier to peddle-despite this insurance being backed by paltry and inadequate reserves.

Or annuity sellers for, again, not backing up their promised and “assured” returns with enough reserves.

We could go on and on; the heads of AIG over the years; the nation’s leading business school for lifting up finance as the preferred MBA specialization; mortgage deductibility –which lead to the American economy being overly reliant on homebuilding (as opposed to, for example, export-focused industries; pressure groups-such as ACORN which led to the promotion of loans to people unable to afford them; the auto industry heads and the UAW for destroying an industry that America “owned” for generations - and that is only a partial list off the top of my head.

Blaming REALTORS is just lame and ill-informed. We assist buyers and sellers... we don't twist arms and insist the buying process happens! That's just stupid.

But, I think Time and Mr Lasky missed one very important 'culprit'...
The Mainstream Media!

I have never in my life heard so much vile and hatred toward ANY sitting President in my lifetime!

The MainStream Media filled the airways and their rags with venom and castigation of everything The President tried to accomplish.
They began with calling him a cheat, that he stole the 2000 election.

The media then turned their attention to housing and began building the fear that the realestate boom was a 'bubble' and would burst at any moment.

Then when everybody was for the war they were suddenly against the war! And against the President and everything he stood for.

Mr. Bush tried to warn Congress about the coming crisis -

But the media refused to report any wrong doing by the Democrats and just continued to blame Mr. Bush.

So the Media must claim their share of this mess.

Big Media is corrupt and controlled by left wing financial giants like George Soros. They are anti-American and anti-Capitalist.

The only 'media giant' that has any semblance of conservatism is the Australian Rupert Murdoch who owns Sky Sports and FOX News.

The lesson learned here?
Never trust anything you read in the newspaper again.
Never trust anything you see on the TV again.

Do the research for yourself!

61 Yea, 36 Nay, 2 Didn't Bother...

The Democrat controlled Senate passed that stupid Stimulus(porkulus)package today!

They got 3 RINOs to go along with their insanity:
Sen. Arlen Specter (PA)

Sen. Susan Collins (ME)
Sen. Olympia Snowe (ME)
All traitors to the Republican Party!

The Senate approved an $838 billion economic recovery package bill Tuesday, as Democrats held on to the few Republican supporters who helped hammer out a compromise measure last week...

The massive package is a blend of spending, tax cuts and incentives that both the administration and Democrats in Congress hope will create jobs and stimulate the economy. But most Republican lawmakers oppose it, saying that while government action may be necessary the plan as crafted is too bloated with wasteful spending...

On the other hand, you could look at it like this...

The Double Standard of Fraud

Jonathan Hoenig, whom I admire and believe has a solid business head on his shoulders, sends me an email every so often. Each time I read the message I think, wow, this guy is right on!

He usually publishes his email blasts in Smart Money

I'll share his latest post about fraud...

The Double Standard of Fraud
By Jonathan Hoenig - February 5, 2009

Between endless television coverage and heated congressional hearings, the Bernie Madoff scandal has received a great deal of attention lately. Yet another fraud, one even more brazen and nefarious, has received scant notice.

Marc Dreier is a Yale- and Harvard-educated lawyer who founded a multistate law firm that at one point employed more than 250 lawyers.

While leaving a meeting in the Toronto offices of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund last December, he intercepted a representative from a New York investment company and, misrepresenting himself as an official from the fund, allegedly attempted to sell fake promissory notes.

The suspicious investor ended up calling authorities, who arrested Dreier later that night. The con now uncovered, Dreier has since been charged with multiple frauds that have cost investors more than $400 million dollars…all committed while he was a popular and highly regarded lawyer.

Yet even though Dreier used his legal credentials to commit a massive crime, there have been no calls for increases regulation of the legal profession, as there has been with hedge funds following the Madoff affair.

Why the double standard? We give lawyers the benefit of the doubt because they’re supposedly tireless advocates working for the best interest of their clients.

Hedge funds on the other hand, are profit -seeking entities looking to make money. For some reason, that self-interest casts a much more suspicious shadow.

Yet even though the Dreier case -- or the Daschle/Geithner tax dodges -- demonstrate that illegality can occur anywhere, the investment community will bear the brunt of the cost of even more onerous regulation and oversight.

The big winners are the “self-sacrificing” lawyers, already tallying their billable hours and soon laughing all the way to the bank.

Amtrak’s Free Ride
Advertisers nationwide are cutting back, but not Amtrak. The government-owned railroad has just launched a TV and print campaign promoting its new Acela Express service. Pricey pages in The Wall Street Journal and New York Times along with local TV are among the media exposure the company will be purchasing this spring.

Of course, it’s easy to spend money when you’ve got a sugar daddy in Washington. Amtrak is on track to receive up to $1 billion from the “stimulus” bill. It has received over $40 billion of taxpayer dollars over the past four decades and, unlike Citigroup (C: 3.58*, +0.09, +2.57%) or Bank of America (BAC: 4.63*, -0.07, -1.48%), has never made a profit in its history.

Amtrak has been a financial disaster since inception, perfectly demonstrating why government ownership of the private economy is an economic death wish. Yet as we’ve been pointing out for almost an entire year now, that’s exactly the direction in which Washington is moving.

Running the banks or the health-care system in the same semi-socialist fashion as Amtrak has been will garner the same results: losses, stagnation and waste.

Buffett’s Contrarian Bet
Warren Buffett's track record is slightly tarnished as of late, as the Oracle of Omaha has taken lumps on investments in Goldman Sachs (
GS: 91.99*, +4.02, +4.56%) and General Electric (GE: 11.08*, -0.18, -1.59%), among others.

Yet these setbacks don’t seem to bother the world’s richest investor, who emphasized in a recent New York Times op-ed, his belief that investors should “Be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful.” Just today he announced another deal to inject more capital into Swiss Re (SWCEY).

No question that fear is now firmly in command.

Although consumer confidence data released this week ticked slightly higher, it remains just a hair off its all-time low reached the last week in January. With unemployment and socialism rising fast, Americans aren’t merely downtrodden…they’re downright depressed.

(There's a graph here depicting the relationship between Consumer Confidence and The S&P 500. It wouldn't reproduce accurately. Go to Smart Money's site to see it.)

Plotting the consumer confidence data against the S&P 500 reveals a fairly obvious trend: that confidence, especially since the modern investor class emerged in the mid-1990s, tends to follow the stock market quite closely, albeit with a slight lag. With virtually no leading sectors, unprecedented government intervention and a nearly $1 trillion pork-laden stimulus bill likely to pass, investors have good reason not to be optimistic. Yet if Buffett’s adage holds up, the collapse in confidence to record lows could be offering up the stock market sale of the century.

As always, only time will tell.

When Minneapolis Lost Its Voice
Among the regional stock and future markets, none was more beautiful than the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, with a stunning trading floor featuring 32-foot ceilings and hand-painted frescoes depicting the various uses of wheat. After 127 years, the exchange closed its floor last year, moving all contracts to its electronic platform. The YouTube video documents the historic trading floor’s final closing bell.

The Anti-Gun Crowd Just Doesn't Get It!

Will liberals ever get it? I really have my doubts.

To most of us owning a gun is a basic right. We understand that God has given us the right to protect our family, our belongings and our nation. Sometimes it takes guns to do that.

That's why The Constitution of The United States of America has language in it, specifically the 2nd Amendment(in the Bill of Rights), to allow private citizens to protect themselves from government tyranny and all foreign and domestic enemies.

But some folks have been wrongly informed or downright lied to about what the gun industry means to America, and why most gun owners strongly support gun ownership.

Many of these uninformed 'whiz kids' think gun owners are a bunch of crazy right wing anti-government survivalist types just waiting for a chance to participate in a coup and overthrow the government!

I received this email from Jim Shepard over at The Shooting Wire.
TSW is a newsletter Mr. Shepard produces a couple times a month about the shooting sports industry and how politics affect our 2nd Amendment rights:

Paranoid? Probably. Pointless? Don't think so.
When we named Barack Obama the gun salesman of the year a few weeks ago, we received what could only be described as a mixed reaction from inside the shooting world. Some thought it was pure PR grandstanding, some thought it appropriate, and others were afraid we were teasing the anti-gun forces when we should be keeping our heads down and our respective mouths shut.

Looking back, we do not regret the decision, but certainly didn't expect the responses we received. Surprisingly, it was better received and taken more seriously outside then industry than in it. "Mainstream" media bombarded us with interview requests. I talked with newspaper and magazine reporters and did radio and TV interviews that made me realize that gun owners are regarded as curiosities by many of my former colleagues.

It became blindingly apparent that these "mainstream" reporters, editors and talk show hosts had absolutely no concept of the depth of the contributions the firearms industry made to local economies, tax revenues and, perhaps most shocking to them all, conservation.

Apparently, they thought the gun business was the exception to all business rules, existing only because of a base of dedicated loonies (that's us) who were living outside society, hoping for an outbreak of martial law or something.

When it came time to talk about the economic value of the firearms industry, it seemed they had never seriously considered the possibility that single-mothers might work for a gun company or gun companies actually employed normal people.

In interviews from California to New York City, when radio hosts were asked if they knew that a voluntary tax on firearms was the majority source of conservation funding, the response was a stunned silence.

They had no idea firearms owners willingly paid to support conservation, or that legitimate gun owners could be schoolteachers, ministers, rabbis, lawyers, doctors or even youths who competed in recognized sporting events.

In other words, we had been effectively marginalized by those who had dictated the terms we used in discussions (they didn't like my use of the phrase "modern rifle" rather than "assault weapon" but agreed it was actually more accurate), defined our image ("you mean you worked for CNN?" was more than one incredulous inquiry), and created a caricature of gun owners that was part clown, part-menace, and always loved to shout "from my cold dead hands."

But a pattern of behavior emerged in each of these conversations. When presented with facts, their positions grudgingly began to change.

When they realized firearms was a billion-dollar industry category that employed real people and made significant - and quantifiable -contributions to conservation and their communities, they realized they had either: 1) been sold a bill of goods by anti-gun groups, or 2) been intellectually lazy in their so-called pursuit of accuracy.

Either way, it was surprising how these interviews turned from rapid-fire deliveries of bad jokes about shooters or accusatory questions to an honest discussion of the financial impact a revitalized "Assault Weapons Ban" would have on a billion-dollar industry. An industry that employed real human beings and did not need a government bailout.

They saw it as an opportunity to have some fun with a gun group and found themselves discussing a business story. In that context, nothing about an AWB made any sense. Neither did holding an industry responsible for the actions of criminals, but that's a conversation for another time.

Meanwhile, it becomes even more apparent that the boom in gun sales is not across the board. Retailers we've contacted are telling us hunting rifles are sitting on the shelves but shotguns have joined high-capacity pistols and modern rifles as hot sellers - especially in the pump-action category that is adaptable to many uses - including home defense.

In Rochester, New Hampshire this week, more layoffs at Thompson/Center Arms. Company owner Smith & Wesson has reportedly furloughed thirty-seven workers and laid off sixy-six others. That's nearly 29 percent of Thompson's full workforce. Combined with the thirty six layoffs last March and eighty more in September, the T/C workforce is down to about fifty percent of what it was a year ago.

Smith & Wesson says the layoffs are in response to the continued low demand for T/C's black-powder hunting rifles.

That low demand in blackpowder may be further reinforced by publisher Grand View Media Group's decision to discontinue its "Blackpowder Guns & Hunting Magazine". We hear Grand View plans to incorporate some of the former title's content into other magazines - if they can obtain the advertising to justify its inclusion.

With cutbacks across the industry in virtually every category except modern/modular rifles and handguns, many retailers and distributors are becoming increasingly nervous about the future.

When you consider that the Republican National Committee's new head, Michael Steele, is quoted in the Examiner as saying "society should draw lines. What do you need an assault weapon for, if you're going hunting? That's overkill. But I don't think that means you go for a total ban for those who want to us a gun for skeet shooting or hunting or things like that. But what's the point of passing gun laws if you're not going to enforce them? If you want to talk about gun control, that's where we need to start…"

Actually, Mr. Steel, your comment makes it obvious that gun owners have once again been hosed by a political party that claimed it was solidly in support of the Second Amendment.

It's high time we judged our "friends" by their actions, not their words.

For example, Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) and current Co-Chairs Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Rep. Dan Boren (D-OK) along with current Vice-Chairs Rep. Mike Ross (D-AR) and Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL) have introduced HR 510, a measure that would allow the firearms and ammunition industry to pay the FAET on a quarterly basis, the same payment schedule as every other industry supporting conservation. Currently firearms and ammunition manufacturers must pay the FAET bi-weekly.

They're working to the benefit of the industry.
Thanks, gentlemen.
--Jim Shepherd

Thanks Jim.

If you're a gun owner, you need to contact your representatives and tell them that you support the 2nd Amendment and Gun Rights - NOW!

We can't wait for the other shoe to drop!
The uninformed electorate of our country has elected a Marxist as our President. How long do you think it will take him to sign an executive order or sponsor legislation to come after your guns?

"An armed society is a polite society!"
